What is GPT Partition Style

Fix1- Erase Hard Disk partitionand convert to MBR using Diskpart


[NOTE- This method will erase the hard disk data. So, at first keep a safe back up of all important data]

Follow the steps, those are given below-

Step 1- Press the Shiftkey + F10 key when you see the error message during Windows installation, this will open Command Prompt. If it doesn’t work,go to the first screen of the installation and then press Shiftkey + F10 key.


Step 2- Write diskpart in the Command Prompt and press Enter.


Step 3-Write the command list disk and press Enter.It shows all the list of disks which is connected to the computer.


Step 4- Write select disk # + Enter. Replace the # symbol with the Disk number representing the Hard disk of GPT partition style.


Step 5- Write the command Clean +PressEnterbutton. This will erase all partitions and data stored in the Hard Disk.


Step 6-Write convert mbr+Press Enterbutton. This will convert the hard disk into MBR style.


Step 7- You can exit after see the message -Diskpart successfully converted selected disk to MBR format.


Fix 2- Change to UEFI mode


Most of the PC comes with UEFI mode and legacy BIOS support, but not every PC has this option. You have to check this in your PC.

How to check your PC using UEFI mode or legacy BIOS

Follow the steps to check your PC comes with UEFI mode and legacy BIOS support or not. The steps are-


*Press Windows + Rand type msinfo32 and press Enter.


* Now choose System Summary in System information.


* In the right hand side of the columns and check the value of BIOS mode. Either it may be UEFI or Legacy.


If you have Legacy BIOS mode then you can try this method to fix the error. The steps are given below-


Step 1-At first turn Off the PC, then Turn On and press the Boot key Esc.


Step 2-BIOSmenu display on screen, navigate to the Boot option.


Step 3-Now select the UEFI option and save the changes.


Now you can install the Windows on GPT disk without any error.


Causes Of Windows Can’t Be Installed To This Disk GPT Error


Windows can’t be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of GPT style. The message means the Computer is set up to start in legacy BIOS mode, but the hard disk where Windows will be installed has GPT partition. Some motherboards supports Legacy BIOS rather legacy +UEFI/ CSM boot. Legacy BIOS doesn’t support modern GPT partitioning. If the Windows version which is to be installed supports GPT but the BIOS doesn’t support GPT, it occurs problem in Windows installation.
